Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is located in Jinan, a city renowned for its historical and cultural heritage. The university spans a total area of 3,850 acres (approximately 2.56 million square meters).As a provincial key university, a co-constructed institution by Shandong Province and the Ministry of Education, and a member of Shandong’s "Double First-Class", its origins trace back to the Normal School established within Shandong University in 1902.Initiative, SDNU has ranked first in the provincial higher education performance evaluation for four consecutive years.

The campus library covers 64,400 square meters, housing 3.493000 printed volumes, 1.88 million e-books, and 209 academic databases and research platforms.
SDNU employs 2,721 staff members, including 2,107 full-time faculty, with 369 full professors and 700 associate professors. The university has attracted 8 dual-appointed academicians, 65 national-level talent program awardees, 93 recipients of Shandong’s key talent awards, and 58 experts recognized for outstanding contributions in Shandong’s academic and social sciences fields.
SDNU comprises 22 schools and departments, offering 67 undergraduate programs, 13 postdoctoral research fellowships, 16 first-level doctoral programs, 4 professional doctorate programs, 33 first-level master’s programs, and 24 professional master’s programs, covering 11 major disciplines. It boasts 1 national key discipline and 1 national key discipline. Eleven disciplines rank within the top 1% globally by ESI, 6 are designated as Shandong high-level disciplines ,including two “peak disciplines”, and three are part of the provincial "811" First-Class Discipline Development Project. In the national fifth-round discipline evaluation,SDNU is the first provincial university in Shandong to achieve A-class disciplines in the national fifth-round discipline evaluation.Additionally, it ranked 52nd among mainland Chinese universities in the 2023 Nature Index rankings and has maintained its leading position among provincial universities in Shandong for seven consecutive years.
2. Introduction to the School of Economics
The School of Economics at Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is proud to host a vibrant and highly qualified international faculty. Comprising 76 members, the faculty maintains an average age below 38, reflecting a blend of youthful energy and academic rigor. All members hold doctoral degrees or are actively pursuing PhDs, including 12 full professors and 30 associate professors. Ten faculty members have been honored with prestigious provincial-level awards, such as the Shandong Provincial Talent Award, and the school supports three provincial-level scientific research innovation teams.
The school offers a first-level doctoral program in Theoretical Economics, a first-level master’s program in Theoretical Economics, and a professional master’s program in International Business (MIB). The doctoral and master’s programs in Theoretical Economics include four specializations: Political Economy, Western Economics, World Economy, and Population, Resources, and Environmental Economics, with the latter two designated as provincial key disciplines. In the 2024 Soft Science China Best Disciplines Ranking, the Theoretical Economics discipline rose to 23rd nationally (top 30%) and ranked first among provincial universities in Shandong.
The school proudly announces its flagship undergraduate programs in economics and finance, designed to cultivate future leaders in global academia and industry. The distinguished offerings include:
International Economics and Trade — Recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program and honored as a Key Specialty of Shandong Province;
Finance — Accredited as both a National First-Class Undergraduate Program and a Ministry of Education Accredited Specialty;

The school emphasizes project-driven research, securing nearly 100 provincial or higher-level projects in recent years, including 34 national-level projects and 7 Ministry of Education projects. Faculty have published over 200 papers in CSSCI/SSCI journals and nearly 60 monographs with leading academic publishers. Current research includes 1 National Social Science Foundation Major Project, 24 other national projects, and over 40 provincial-level projects. National Social Science Foundation grants have consistently ranked among the highest at SDNU.

4. Application Requirements

2. Candidates with a doctoral degree from globally renowned overseas institutions or those who have completed postdoctoral research are encouraged to apply. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to working in China and the potential to make transformative contributions to the field of economics through innovative research, academic leadership, and international collaborations.
3. For post doctoral positions, applicants must be born after January 1, 1985.
